A MAJOR GOVERNMENTAL INSTITUTION

esettan_kiemelt_engAbout the requirements

One of the largest and most complex government offices with the most stringent standards in Hungary, which requires highly outstanding suppliers with extremely problem-solving skills regarding to the quality expectations.

Considering administrative and operational tasks of the organisation, includes a number of phases from a daily basis mass document management and processing, retrieval, to evaluation and archiving.

H1 Systems solutions

Within the project a turnkey design, construction and operation systems management of a data center with complete building management system and office building were the desired goals for a major governmental institution, with a demolition of the existing building and construction of new building in its place.

Accepting extremely high-level of expectations, H1 Systems had the opportunity to build a room-in-room data center with unique physical security in Budapest. Personal data management, protection and related IT infrastructure, safety operation and reliability were essential. It is compelled to creativity that was prohibited to lead water (particularly with cooling) into the server halls which was defined as the client specific requirement during the tender process.

According to he client expectations, was only given a quite short period of time, one year for the turn-key design and construction.

The construction area is very densely populated, located in the daytime busy and quiet at night Budapest downtown. Solutions not only for the logistics, but the noise control (constructional and technological) were essential during the construction and the test run and the subsequent operation in terms of the facility was a key accordingly. Due to the location night and weekend work was almost impossible.

The facility is located directly next to a gas station, which has required also careful work and planning, particularly with regard to the generators and transformer station, which have been built a few meters from him.

Our tasks

  • demolition of the existing 3-storey building and several outbuildings
  • construction of a new 3.5-storey, 1,000 m² of reinforced concrete building
  • refurbishment of an existing, more than 1,000 m² of office space
  • construction of more than 520 m² EN 1047-2 R60D grade (self-supporting and dry construction technology, dual-coated sheet metal, expandable and removable sandwich panel technology) 18.6 Lampertz LSR server hall
  • construction of a new transformer building
  • design and construction of the fire alarm system and the automatic gas extinguishing system of the data center
  • planning and implementation of the entire power supply and distribution system of complex (diesel aggregator, transformer units, uninterruptible power supply systems) - the total installed electric capacity of more than 2,000 kVA
  • design and construction of the cooling and heating systems at comfort areas - the integrated cooling capacity over 1,500 kW
  • installing integrated security system covering the whole building complex (alarm systems, access control, video surveillance system), development of access control system with multi-level authentication
  • installation of the complete low-voltage network
  • design and construction of the data center monitoring system
  • development of a CAT6 grade IT network (more than 500 endpoints)
  • development of the optical network
  • installation of the IP telephone network

Project results

1,100 m² (2x260 m²) space of data center takes place separately, in a dedicated building in line with the client's expectations. The racks along so-called "room-in-room" principal are hermetically closed, physically separated, and take place in a Lampertz ECB_S qualified server hall, practically in a giant vault.

The thermal challenge (given the fact, that the presence of water for cooling had to be excluded from the server hall according to the client's demand) has solved by our engineers with combining two different technologies: Emerson Network Power System (Vertiv) built into the direct expansion and fluid-change cooling (XDP) used together, which was completed by intalling free-cooling technology.

An over 10 kW/unit load, high-density data center, an exceptional in Hungary, ensures extremely high operational reliability and availability.

The complex is equipped with Honeywell EBI, full building management system, including development and integration of high-voltage power supply systems (10 kV, 0.4 kV, UPS, diesel aggregator), building operations (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), security systems (access control, intruder detection, CCTV), fire alarm- and extinguishing systems and separate IT-subsystems. Major tasks of the systems including inter alia 24/7 systems monitoring, automatic alarms, status signals, redundancy management, forwarding generated system notifications on e-mail or text message for the users and sub-systems, based on previously set parameters.
