Types of automated extinguishing systems:

1. Water-based systems
   • wet sprinkler (only in heated rooms)
   • dry sprinkler (in rooms without heating)
   • fog (HI-FOG), water vapor is smaller than 0,1mm

• inert gas (O2 displacement): N2,CO2, Ar
• catalytic gas (chemical reaction): CaO2 – potassium-oxide (FirePro)

CO detection

In case of CO detection, as usual in case of all other poisoning gases, alert should be based not only on concentration but also exposion effect. Based on experience, in domestic parking areas short term, some minutes long CO concentrations occur quite often, mostly by starting some older cars and in winter time. For these events it is enough if the systems detects the conditions (records it in the event table) but actions are being started only if the situation lasts for a longer period.

However, it is not allowed to lest the system react to a higher concentration with a significant delay. Similar situations can occur during peak times, when massive traffic is expected within a short term before working time or before bigger events. In these situations, air dilution and information of people within the facility must be done quickly.

By proper deployment of detectors and precise calibration of systems the recognition of dangerous events can be realized within a short period, while costs and damages of false alerts can be minimized.
